Elizabeth Carroll is a high school English teacher who has just published her first book.  She has been writing stories since the eighth grade; the characters in The Secret Keeper were created when she was a teenager.  Elizabeth studied creative writing at UNC-Wilmington and received both her B.A. in English and her M.F.A. in creative writing from the institution, where she worked under the tutelage of Clyde Edgerton.

She is a wife to Charlie and a new mom to Wesley, to whom the book is dedicated.

The Secret Keeper is Elizabeth Carroll's first book.  A young adult fantasy, it tells the story of Wil Johnson, a fifteen year old struggling to accept his father's death, his mom's new relationship, and the dark secret harbored by his best friend.  To cope, Wil holds onto his childhood belief in all things fantastical; as such, he is the only one able to see Cassia, a mythical being from the realm of clouds who has come to study the race of humans.  When Cassia realizes Wil can see her in her true form, she asks the Council of Eight to reinstate an abandoned practice between her world and Wil's: the exchange of information with blessed humans known as Secret Keepers.

Through his relationship with Cassia, Wil comes to understand the world in all its imperfectness.  He learns how to cope with loss and betrayal and how valuable true friendship really is.

The Secret Keeper is the first book in a series of four.  It is available at www.wheatmark.com, www.Amazon.com, and www.barnesandnoble.com

The second book will be available around the holidays.  More information to follow.
